May is Duke Energy in Action volunteer month. In 2018, Duke Energy Florida introduced its “31x31: Championing 62 Causes in May” program. Our employees hosted 62 community employee engagement activities during the 31 days in the month of May. Employees participated in a wide variety of events while partnering with local non-profit or community organizations.
In 2017, Las Vegas Sands established The Sheldon G. and Dr. Miriam Adelson Citizenship Award presented by Sands Cares, an annual honor to recognize Team Members across all regions who have demonstrated dedication to giving back to their communities and important causes. The award was created to honor the Adelson family’s legacy of philanthropy and service.
Service Unites 2018, powered by Points of Light, convened nearly 2,000 nonprofit, government, business and civic leaders from 38 countries to gain and share the knowledge, resources and connections needed to galvanize the power of people to create change globally. During the three-day Atlanta event, Points of Light recognized four inspiring changemakers by presenting them with Daily Point of Light Awards, a prestigious honor started by President George H.W. Bush during his presidency. Points of Light also announced the 2018 honorees of The Civic 50, a recognition of the 50 most community-minded companies in the United States.
For the 11th consecutive year, NRG Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NRG) employees took to the communities where they live and work to volunteer in the name of “positiveNRG week,” the company’s annual week of volunteering. This year’s efforts resulted in nearly 1,000 NRG employees across 16 states volunteering nearly 5,000 hours to 71 charities and nonprofits.
